From a statement posted on the school’s web site from Agnes Scott president Elizabeth Kiss:

“We are educating our students to become global change agents who have the courage, compassion and commitment to make a difference in the world. Oprah Winfrey is a phenomenal model of leading a purpose-driven life with her impressive legacy of leadership, philanthropy and service. We are honored and thrilled to welcome her to our college to share an inspiring and empowering message with our 2017 graduates as they embark on the next stage of their life’s journey.”

Winfrey spends a good bit of time in Atlanta. Her OWN show “Greenleaf” films here. The HBO movie “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks,” in which she starred as Henrietta’s daughter Deborah Lacks, was filmed largely in Atlanta, as did “Selma,” directed by her close friend and frequent artistic partner Ava DuVernay. Winfrey served as a producer for and played a role in “Selma.”
