ATLANTA - Some shoppers at an Atlanta CVS had to dodge bullets after police say at least two men starting shooting at each other in the parking lot and one of them died.
Channel 2’s Craig Lucie reported live at the CVS off Bolton Road and Marietta Boulevard in northwest Atlanta Tuesday night where detectives were on the scene gathering evidence for hours.
Police say the man, who pulled up in a black Honda Element that has multiple bullet holes in the side, died inside the CVS store.
“He ran inside and collapsed,” said Homicide Cmdr. Paul Guerrucci.
Detectives say the other gunman was shot somewhere below the waist, and no one was hit as they walked in and out of the store.
“Many shots were fired. There were a lot of people around when this incident occurred,” Guerrucci said.
Captain Guerrucci told Lucie that more than 15 shots were exchanged. When Lucie asked if it was drug
Lakisha Raby told a Channel 2 Action News photographer that she was coming to the CVS to meet her aunt, and her aunt almost got caught in the crossfire.
“She was able to see them shooting. There was an altercation in the parking lot and she backed up and peeled off,” said Raby.
Police say the man who is undergoing surgery at Grady Memorial Hospital knew the other man who died at the scene.
Captain Guerrucci says there could be more people involved. Detectives placed evidence markers all over the parking lot. There is also a large bullet hole in the front window of the CVS. Police are hoping anyone who has more information will call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS.
