ATLANTA — Passengers at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport were forced to leave part of the international terminal Friday night.

Atlanta police sent us the following statement: "One of our K-9s was alerted by a scent on one of the ULDs (Unit Load Device) that was carrying luggage from a Qatar Air Flight.  When something like this takes place, there is a protocol that has to take place to determine the potential threat of the situation and ensure the safety of all those in the area.  There was nothing located during the search."

Atlanta police say units checked out an “area of concern” at Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport Friday night.

An explosive detection K-9 alerted on a bag from a Qatar Air flight Friday night, a source told Channel 2’s Mark Winne.

Passengers were removed from windows and a main check-in area for the international concourse.

Travelers were forced to wait for airport personnel to bring them their bags in a different part of the terminal.

An Atlanta police spokesperson told Channel 2’s Justin Wilfon that officers were checking an area of concern at the international terminal. The spokesperson says there were no evacuations.

The incident was over in less than two hours. Flights appeared to be unaffected.
