Marietta officer recovering after vehicle strike

Officer James McClure, 26, was trying to stop traffic along the Canton Road Connector when the driver of a Ford F-150 was hit from behind, causing the truck to hit McClure.

MARIETTA, Ga. - Marietta Police said one of their own was hit by a car Thursday afternoon after trying to stop traffic to help an emergency vehicle get through.

Officer James McClure, 26, was trying to stop traffic along the Canton Road Connector when the driver of a Ford F-150 was hit from behind, causing the truck to hit McClure.

McClure was taken to Kennestone Hospital with serious injuries that were not life-threatening.

Investigators said the wreck remains under investigation with possible charges pending.

McClure has been with Marietta Police for 2 months. He has four years of experience with another metro police department as well.
