ROSWELL, Ga. - A manhunt is underway for the suspect in a home invasion that caused two schools in North Fulton to be placed on lockdown Friday.
Roswell police said someone broke into the home on Hembree Grove Overlook and attacked the homeowner. They told Channel 2’s Mike Petchenik a man broke into the house and bound the homeowner, but the victim was able to escape to a neighbor's house. Police K-9 units went door to door and searched the woods behind the subdivision for the suspect.
Police locked down nearby Elkins Pointe Middle and Hembree Springs Elementary schools as a precaution because they aren't sure where the suspect went.
A neighbor said he saw blood on the homeowner.
"There was some blood on the homeowner. He wasn't injured. He was taken away in an ambulance, but was fine. He indicated he may have gotten the intruder a few times with a knife," said neighbor Cliff Pelloni.
Pelloni said he has two kids at nearby Hembree Springs Elementary. He said he's glad the school went on lockdown for a bit as a precaution.
