Women attacked outside Sandy Springs nightclub

NORTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Sandy Springs police are looking for two men who they say attacked a group of women as they headed to a local club.

The attack happened Monday night outside Taboo 2 Nightclub on Roswell Road.

“There was two gentleman that came up to flirt with them with some ladies in one vehicle and they basically just showed they weren’t interested,” said Sandy Springs Police Sgt. Ron Momon.

Momon said one of the men pulled out a gun and robbed the women.

“One of the ladies was actually pistol-whipped,” he said.  “She told the perpetrator she didn’t have any money and (he) actually pistol-whipped her.”

Channel 2’s Mike Petchenik spoke to some women who were visiting a business near the club, who said the attack concerned them.

“It’s absolutely crazy,” said Carla Fisher. “We live in a time right now where you have to watch your back.  Me as a woman, I have to watch my back when I’m driving, to make sure that nobody is following me.”

Annie Irankunda told Petchenik that she often goes out with her friends, so the attack hits home.

“It’s sad that things happen like that these days because all we want to do is have fun, not really want to get robbed and have a gun pulled out on us,” she said.
