Wild Wing Cafe in Alpharetta fails health inspection

ALPHARETTA — The manager of a busy Alpharetta restaurant is apologizing for getting a failing health inspection. He told Channel 2’s Carol Sbarge that since that Wild Wing Café on Windward Parkway opened eleven years ago, it hasn’t failed an inspection once.

The franchise in Alpharetta is a place customers come to for wings, to watch sports and to socialize. On August 22, the Wild Wings Café in Alpharetta got a 45 on its health inspection.

Customer Josh Sweeney told Sbarge he’s always had great service at the restaurant and never had any complaints about the food. Sweeney was shocked to hear about the low score.%

Violations included build-up of black mold along the interior of ice machine, raw chicken wings not held cold enough and observed build of debris on floors and walls throughout the main kitchen area.

On the two previous inspection the restaurant score a 96 and a 93. The manager told Sbarge he’s addressed the new violations. He said part of the problem with temperature and storage violations was that a delivery had just been made when the inspector came.

He also said he recently bought a new steam table and had just moved out the old one, so there was debris that had been behind it. On the wall, you can see multiple employees got the ServSafe certification that means they went through special training on food safety.

Customer Sweeney says that despite the failing health inspection, he had no reservations about eating at Wild Wing Café Thursday and is giving them the benefit of the doubt.
