Video shows teen doing donuts in parking lot, slamming into another car

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — Video shows a teen doing donuts in a parking lot before crashing into another car, police said.

Johns Creek police said the teen was not alone.

Channel 2′s Mike Petchenik was in Johns Creek, where investigators said dozens of drivers were laying drag in a church parking lot off Parsons Road Feb. 15.

Police said social media posts tipped them off about what was going on.

Sgt. Tyler Seymour said when cops got to St. Benedict's, several cars were "drifting," or doing donuts, a stunt popularized by movies like the "Fast and Furious" franchise.

"This is a very dangerous situation," Seymour said. "When you get groups of people trying to show off their vehicle at a high rate of speed and careless in the actions, you have personal risk with the individuals involved as well as bystanders."

Officers arrested a 17-year-old driver who crashed into another car. It's unclear if the drivers of the other car were also racing.

The teen who was arrested went to the hospital, and then to jail. He's expected in court next month.

Neighbor Andrea Green said she can't believe what kids are doing these days.

"Maybe at times now, we have so much more freedom that we take on more risk," Green said. "I'm sure if their parents were standing there by them, they'd say, 'I'd never do that.'"

Green said it's amazing nobody got hurt.

“Thank God. At least the police are around to keep the kids in some kind of order,” Green said.
