Mother arrested in DUI told police her arrest ‘wasn't fair'

ALPHARETTA, Ga. — An Alpharetta mother is facing multiple charges after police said she drove drunk

Jacqueline McFarlin had her 14 and 9-year-old kids in her SUV when she was pulled over near Westside and Old Milton parkways on April 14.

Police said she was driving on the wrong side of the road and did not have her headlights on.

Several cars had to swerve to avoid hitting her.

“This driver drove on the wrong side of the highway numerous times, especially on the crest of a hill with oncoming traffic at night,” Alpharetta officer George Gordon said.

Dashcam video shows officers conducting a field sobriety test on McFarlin, which police said she failed.

“This is endangerment to the motoring public, herself and especially her children,” Gordon said.

Once under arrest, McFarlin questioned why the officer had to take her to jail.

“It’s not fair,” she said.

She also asked if she could drop her kids off at home first.

“My son is almost 15. Can we just drop them at home?” McFarlin said.

Her attorney told Channel 2's Mike Petchenik that it is too early for him to comment on the case.

He said they are still reviewing the evidence and plan to resolve it in court.
