"I just think everyone is kind of over it," said voter Katherine Addison. "It's just a lot of arguing, and no one really checks their facts and stuff."

Milton police told Channel 2’s Mike Petchenik that a debate over Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump landed one man in hot water.

"They were having an argument, and unfortunately the dialogue turned into threats, some very serious threats," said Lt. Charles Barstow of the Milton Police Department.

A police report obtained by Petchenik said a Hillary Clinton supporter posted a comment on a friend's page calling a post about Trump racist.

Police said Jason Kauti posted in response: "If we ever cross paths, I will kill you and your family."

"Usually we have to subpoena documentation and verify that what we see online is exactly as it is," Barstow said.

Barstow said detectives verified that Kauti posted the comment and arrested him for felony terroristic threats.

"Keep it reasonable. We understand there's a lot of emotion involved in this particular election, and that people are allowed to express their particular opinion, but when it ends up in threats of bodily harm, that's probably not the way you want to go," Barstow told Petchenik.

"I think it's very sad that people's lives are being threatened over this," Addison said.

Kauti has bonded out of jail. Petchenik contacted his criminal defense attorney for comment, but has not yet received a response.
