Attorney: Autopsy shows Nick Gordon tried to save Bobbi Kristina

ATLANTA — Attorneys for the boyfriend of the late Bobbi Kristina Brown said their client tried to save her, not kill her.

Channel 2's Erica Byfield spoke with them Tuesday about a judge's decision to release Brown's autopsy results.

They believe the autopsy results clear their client of any wrongdoing. As a result, they're calling on the district attorney to drop his investigation into Nick Gordon.

Gordon's attorneys, Joe Habachy and Jose Baez, say his life has been tumultuous since he lost Brown, the love of his life.

“The Fulton County District Attorney's Office has tried to make Nick a murderer despite having clear and convincing evidence that Bobbi Kristina's death was nothing more than a tragic accident,” his attorneys said in a statement. "The truth is that Nick tried to save Bobbi Kristina's life. The truth is that Nick cooperated with law enforcement since day one. The truth is that no one loved Bobbi Kristina more than Nick and no one has suffered more as a result of her death then Nick."

Brown was found unresponsive in her Roswell townhouse 13 months ago. She spent six months in a coma before she died last summer.

The autopsy says Brown died after her face was immersed in water complicated by a mixed drug interaction.

Tests found marijuana, cocaine and morphine in her system. Even so, her manner of death remains undetermined because investigators can't conclusively say whether her death was an accident or intentional.

An expert not tied to the case thinks the DA does not have a case.

"Unless they're gonna say he bought her those drugs, gave them to her and then she OD'd, maybe they can try to make that argument, but as it stands now, I don't see how Nick Gordon could be implicated in this. Stranger things have happened,” said criminal defense attorney Lawrence Zimmerman.

Fulton County’s District Attorney's Office told Byfield no comment in response for our request for information.
