JONESBORO, Ga. - The Clayton County Board of Commissioners is holding its first meeting since the election of new members, Jeff Turner and Shana Rooks.
Turner, the former Clayton County police chief, defeated former board chairman Eldrin Bell in the November race. Rooks, a Jonesboro attorney, unseated Wole Ralph, who previously served as vice chairman of the board.
The board is expected to address several reform items on the meeting agenda, including a request from the county district attorney.
Channel 2 has confirmed that Clayton County District Attorney Tracy Graham Lawson filed a motion in Superior Court to void certain county commission appointments and resolutions for alleged open-meeting violations.
Lawson is at the meeting as Channel 2’s Tony Thomas is also there tracking developments.
He’ll have a live update at 11 on Channel 2 Action News Nightbeat.
