Neighbors rescue man from burning home in DeKalb

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Some concerned neighbors helped a DeKalb County man get out of his burning home.

The fire started overnight at a home on Wildwood Trace in Stone Mountain. Neighbors say the homeowner was asleep when they came to help.

“When we were knocking on the side of the house, the fire was pretty much to the garage and the back side of the house on the garage side. By the time we came around to the front, we escorted him off the premises. It just spread very, very quickly," said Jose Olivero.

Authorities said the homeowner did make it out safely.

Fire officials are trying to determine how the fire started.
