Neighbors on edge after alleged attempted child abduction

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga — DeKalb County parents are keeping a close eye on their kids after neighbors said a possible predator tried to lure children.

Neighbors in the Northlake and Lakeside communities told Channel 2’s Steve Gehlbach that they are on high alert after a possible predator tried to lure a 12-year-old.

They said a suspicious man was near the Leslie Beach Club where he reportedly yelled at a 12-year-old girl to get in his car.

Neighbors reported seeing a white 4-door car with tinted windows. They said the suspected child predator followed the 12-year-old girl leaving a pool a couple of miles away and tried to get her into his car.

“(He's) coming over here yelling for kids, ‘get in, get in,’ but kids are running away from it,” resident James Bantantou said.

A woman who did not want to be identified told Channel 2 Action News, “We just ask people to help keep a lookout for this person and stay safe and watch out for your kids.”

In a different case, neighbors said a man drove up in a driveway, where a mother had just left three boys home alone, but drove off after dogs inside started barking.

So far, no one has gotten a description of what the man looks like, but only his white 4-door car with tinted windows.
