Mother of murdered postal worker opens up about her grief

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Dozens gathered at a funeral home to remember Tyrika Terrell, the postal service worker who was killed by her estranged boyfriend.

The viewing comes two days after police arrested him during a two-hour standoff with officers where he tried to set a house on fire and shot himself.

Her estranged boyfriend, Quantez D'Ante Tyree, was arrested and charged with her death on Dec. 1.

Channel 2's Nefertiti Jaquez spoke to Terrell's mother, Eugenia Terrell-Grant, on Sunday.

Terrell-Grant is hoping for justice.

"(I'm) relieved that he was caught because he was a threat to society,” she said. “He is a coward. He is a coward.”

Terrell-Grant told Jaquez she believes Tyree planned the murder.

"He actually sat and plotted what he was going to do, and how he was going to hurt her," she said.
