Mother makes plea for information in son's shooting death

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — The mother of a local man shot and killed in DeKalb County is asking for information about who is responsible for his shooting death.

Channel 2 Action News was there the day police discovered the body of Jarvis Jones, 29. He was shot to death in his driveway on Dec. 30, 2014.

Police have not made an arrest and are pushing for clues about who killed him.

Channel 2 Action News heard from Jones’ mother for the first time Sunday, as she made a plea for someone to come forward.

“My son Jarvis Jones was murdered by an uncivilized savage,” Joell Jones said.

She sat down with Channel 2’s Amy Napier Viteri to urge anyone with information about who killed her son to speak up.

“Please contact CrimeStoppers,” she pleaded.

She became emotional and said she just wants justice for her son.

“Anyone could be sitting here any time in my position,” she said.

Police found Jones, a father of two, shot twice in a driveway on Allgood Road. Police said no witnesses have come forward and there are few clues about who did it.

“There were multiple shell casings and there were tire tracks indicating that a vehicle had been at the location,” DeKalb County Police Detective D.R. Ward said.

Ward said it appears someone robbed Jones, who was missing his cell phone and wallet.

“He just appeared to be a guy who was trying to get his life together,” he said.

His mother told Viteri the day he died, Jones had received a call about a new job. She said the person who killed him is a coward.
