BROOKHAVEN, Ga. - Georgia State Patrol troopers have confirmed that a body found in a car in a creek is that of a missing veteran.
Andrew Ackerman’s friends reported him missing Tuesday night. The 31-year-old Army veteran was last seen early Tuesday morning at a bar on Roswell Road in Buckhead.
A car was discovered in a creek off Johnson Ferry Road near Mill Creek Road in Brookhaven on Thursday. Ackerman’s body was found inside, troopers said.
“Upon arrival, troopers found a vehicle that had left the roadway, traveled down an embankment and overturned,” State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright said in a statement. Ackerman was deceased inside the car.
Ackerman was recently honorably discharged from the Army. He is from Sandy Springs.
Police do not suspect foul play.
