Missing Rome boy found near home

ROME, Ga. — Rome police safely located a missing 10-year-old just a few hundred feet from his home after he disappeared on Thursday.

Ashton Swearinger's family told police the boy has wandered off before and has a history of hiding.
Police used K-9 units and a helicopter to search for the boy near his north Rome home as temperatures dipped into the 20s overnight.
Police told Channel 2 they found the boy about 350 feet from his home just before 4 a.m. Friday.
