A DeKalb County mother of six says she called Channel 2 because she felt like screaming after someone stole the family’s van.
“I called the police, but I felt I needed more help than that,” Shonterie Brown said. “I feel like I’m under a rock pile. I’ve got to find a way to get the rock pile off me.”
Brown told Channel 2’s Ryan Young the pressure of trying to make ends meet has only been compounded with the new pressure of not having a way to get around, especially since Brown is unemployed.
“Somebody stole our van. It’s gone,” Brown said.
The mother said she loaded up all the family’s clothes in the minivan to make a run to the laundry mat. Then, she walked back up three flights of stairs to her Candler Road apartment to get a few more things inside. When she returned, the van was missing.
Brown told Young all the family’s new Christmas clothes, and even rags and towels, have disappeared. She wants the public to be on the lookout for a 2002 Dodge Caravan with the license plate BYR9719.
