Marietta family's stolen heirloom ring returned

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — There's some good news out of Cobb County after a family was burglarized and had a family heirloom stolen.

Someone returned an engagement ring taken from the family's Marietta home.

Alyssa Orenstein said her neighbor found the ring Friday in a plastic bag on her front lawn.

Orenstein said the engagement ring is more than 50 years old and was passed down from her fiance's grandmother. Her boyfriend used it to propose to her in October.

The couple said someone broke in through a back window and ransacked the couple's room, helping themselves to the family heirloom, along with two handguns, their iPads and cash.

Police investigated the break-in but weren't able to recover any fingerprints.
