Man, woman killed in home invasion

ATLANTA, Ga. — Police are looking for leads in a deadly home invasion at an apartment building in southeast Atlanta.

Atlanta police received the call of a person shot around 3:30 a.m. at the Southern Trace Apartments on Conley Road, but when officers arrived, they found a man and woman shot multiple times.

The victims, who police said lived in the apartment, were dead. The man died at the scene. The woman was rushed to a hospital, but she did not survive.

Police believe they were the only two people in the apartment when the shooting happened. Police don’t have a good description of the shooter, or know if the shooting involved more than one suspect.

Police said they found items in the apartment that make them believe the couple was targeted.

"It looks like some type of home invasion, but based on elements and information we know thus far, it doesn't appear to be a random act," said Atlanta Police Capt. Paul Guerucci.
