Arrests made after man shot in Kroger carjacking

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Police have made several arrests after a man was carjacked outside a Kroger on Moreland Avenue.

Investigators say a group of men approached the victim around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and demanded his car. After he surrendered his car keys, detectives say, they shot him anyway.
Channel 2's Richard Elliot spent hours at the scene, where detectives climbed underneath a car searching for evidence.
One of the stray shots hit a Kroger employee's pickup truck, flattening the tire.
Around 9:45 pm, police located the victim’s vehicle and three male adult suspects. Police say the suspects immediately fled on foot. With the assistance of a police K9, all three suspects were taken into custody and the victim’s vehicle was recovered.
Jarrell Anderson shops at the Moreland Avenue Kroger all the time. He says he's never seen any kind of crime there, making the carjacking all the more shocking.
"I mean, I wouldn't necessarily expect it here, you know? But it's hard times out here, man.  I guess people do what they got to do. It's unfortunate," Anderson told Elliot.
One witness said off camera that he heard as many as seven gunshots.
''It can happen anywhere. It happens in this area all the time. So you have to be careful,” said shopper London Dyer.
The victim, identified as LaQuan Taylor, 27, of Loganville, was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
Police are not releasing the names of the suspects as they continue their investigation.
