Mom's boyfriend accused of injuring Morgan County baby

MORGAN COUNTY, Ga. — Deputies have arrested and charged 21-year-old Donald Justin Lee with cruelty to children in the case of a 9-month-old baby found severely injured at a Morgan County home, investigators said.

Brantly Farmer was airlifted Saturday afternoon to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite. He's suffering severe head injuries, family members said.

Morgan deputies and paramedics went to the home on Aqua Road, after reports of a child not breathing.

Investigators said, Lee, the boyfriend of Brantly's mother, called 911. He said Brantly had fallen off a couch.  Deputies said Lee was caring for the child at the time.

Due to the severity of the baby’s head injuries, Capt. Christopher Bish with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, said they are investigating whether the trauma was intentionally inflicted.

"Babies don't usually fall off an 18-inch couch and get these kind of injuries," Bish said.

The sheriff's office obtained and executed a search warrant at the home on Aqua Road, but they are unable to comment  further on the results of the warrant.

"They've been in and out all day. [Taking] bags of stuff, boxes of stuff," said Mark Preston, a neighbor who lives across from where the incident happened.

"We are just asking for prayers," said Brandon Hays, the baby's uncle, who spoke to Channel 2's Rachel Stockman by phone at the hospital.

Lee is in jail without bond.
