BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. — A man was killed in an accident at Shaw Industries Plant 15 located on Highway 411 in Cartersville.
The victim has been identified as David Holland, 56.
A Shaw Industries spokesperson says Holland was performing routine maintenance when he fell into a machine at the carpet mill.
The company released the following statement:
"The health and safety of Shaw's associates is our top priority. Shaw will be conducting an investigation into the matter. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of our associate during this difficult time."
Holland lived about 20 miles from the plant in Polk County.
A family friend told Channel 2's Matt Johnson Holland and his wife had recently had their first child.
The family friend says Holland was a hard worker for Shaw and he waited his whole life to start a family.
An additional OSHA investigation into what happened at the plant will help shed light on what caused the accident that took Holland's life.
