ATLANTA — A SWAT team used tear gas to end a standoff in a northeast Atlanta neighborhood .
It started when 44-year-old Marvin Harvey became belligerent during a traffic stop and walked away, police said.
Police said they followed Harvey to a house on Mayson Avenue. A woman and child were allowed to leave the residence during the standoff.
The SWAT team then used tear gas to enter the home and capture Harvey safely.
The standoff ended about midnight.
Police said he faces several charges, including obstruction and battery.
