DECATUR, Ga. — A man accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a wheelchair has pleaded not guilty.
Channel 2's Tom Jones was at the Decatur courthouse where 54-year-old Donnie Bess denied the allegations Thursday.
The 70-year-old victim hired Bess to cut her yard in September, police said. They said he forced himself inside her home where he sexually assaulted her and then stole her television, diamond rings and cash.
"I think he came in for a drink of water or something like that and once he came inside, he did some horrible things," DeKalb County District Attorney Robert James told Jones.
The U.S. Marshal's Office found Bess in Waycross and returned him to DeKalb authorities for prosecution. He has an extensive criminal history.
