Man in custody after DeKalb standoff

TUCKER, Ga. — A man is in custody after a SWAT standoff at an apartment complex on Pleasantdale Road.

David Blackley, 57, has been charged with simple assault following the standoff, which occurred just before 1 a.m. at Bentley Place in Tucker.

DeKalb County police said they received a call about a domestic situation involving Blackley, who was allegedly intoxicated and making threats against his mother.

Officers responded at the scene and a SWAT team was called after Blackley refused their orders to evacuate the residence.

At some point, he also threatened to shoot anyone who approached him, police said.

Four hours later, police took him into custody after surrendering without incident.
