Man collapses, dies after 10K

MARIETTA, Ga.,None — A Georgia man collapsed at the finish line and later died after a 10-kilometer road race in Marietta, authorities said.

The Marietta Daily Journal reports that 53-year-old Allen Scott Gill, of Paulding County, was running in the annual Thanksgiving Day Gobble Jog with his wife, Rose. Authorities said his wife was running about five minutes behind her husband and approached the finish line as emergency workers were performing CPR on Gill.

He was pronounced dead at WellStar Kennestone Hospital. An estimated 10,000 runners participated in the day's races.
