GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - Investigators have charged a man with felony murder in the death of a 1-year-old boy.
According to Gwinnett County police, homicide detectives upgraded a charge for 23-year-old Cody Williams from first-degree cruelty to children to felony murder.
Williams is accused of killing 16-month-old Noah Nolan Monday night. They said he was watching Nolan at Sienna Heights Apartments, in the 1000 block of Graves Road.
Investigators believe that Williams struck Nolan with his hands. They said there were signs of physical injury when they arrived on scene at about 10 p.m.
Nolan was taken to the taken to hospital but pronounced dead upon arrival.
Police said an autopsy will be conducted and the investigation is ongoing.
Police said they do not anticipate any additional people to be charged in the case.
The Sienna Heights apartment managers released a statement about the incident saying, “We are deeply saddened by this tragic event, and our deepest and most heartfelt condolences go out to the baby's family. We are cooperating fully with the authorities as they investigate this matter.
