Man charged with murdering his grandmother

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — The Hall County Sheriff's Office charged a man with murdering his grandmother.

Deputies said they were called to Liberty Street in Gainesville around 2:30 p.m. Friday to a report of an assault. When they arrived, they found 70-year-old Lula Bell Howard injured. She was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center where she later died.

A short time later, an arrest warrant was obtained for Howard's grandson, 32-year-old Ronnie Quqomeki Rucker. He was taken into custody and booked into the Hall County Jail.

WSB-TV checked with the Georgia Department of Corrections and found out that Rucker has served time in state prison twice. He was last released in December.

Rucker is currently awaiting his first court appearance.
