Local high school unveils ‘largest' football video board

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Norcross High School revealed its brand-new video display board at its football stadium Wednesday night.

It is notable because the school says this is the largest video display board of any high school in the country.

Kirk Barton, athletic director for the school, told WSB Radio the board is 51 feet by 29 feet.  It features a lot of room for real-live game feeds, interaction for the fans, all to enhance the game day experience.  And Barton says it is even bigger than the board at the University of Alabama.

Barton would not reveal the cost, only to say it was "a significant amount."

As for how it was paid for, "(Football) Coach (Keith) Maloof and some of his parents rallied some business in the community who gave private funds, so no school funds were used on it as well as no booster club funds were used on it."

Barton says it was time for an upgrade from the old board, which had been in place for 15 years.

"Nobody has a 15-year-old computer,” Barton says.
