Light freezing rain possible in NE Georgia overnight

ATLANTA — A wedge dominated weather on Friday, keeping much of metro Atlanta abnormally cool.

"It's also this wedge that will bring the potential for light, freezing drizzle in the north Georgia mountains late tonight," Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Katie Walls said.

There’s a possibility for one or two hours after midnight for isolated slick patches on bridges and elevated surfaces before temperatures climb above freezing by dawn.

We’re expecting light rain on Saturday, starting in the morning. The main impact will be I-20 and northward. Temperatures are expected to climb into the 50s and 60s.

On Sunday, rain will be more widespread.

“An isolated thunderstorm cannot be ruled out, but strong and severe storms aren’t expected,” Walls said.
