Lane closures on I-75 in Cobb this weekend

ATLANTA, Ga. — Along with the complete closure of North Marietta Parkway over I-75 and the ramps leading to it all weekend, drivers from the north can expect closures on I-75 southbound in Cobb County, as well with double lane closures from Chastain Road to State Route 5.

"The I-75/North Loop area in Cobb County is likely going to be a very slow ride all weekend," said Georgia Department of Transportation official Shun Pringle. "The surface streets around the North loop interchange will be very crowded. Look for an alternate route is the best advice I can give."

For the next five weekends, the Georgia Department of Transportation will completely close the North Marietta Parkway from US 41/SR 3 to Gresham Road/Wallace Road to make necessary concrete repairs. The closures will also include the SR 120 interchange at I-75. Detours will be in place and major delays in the area are expected. The work is expected to be completed by Nov. 11, weather permitting.

The closures will only be in place on the weekends. State Route 120 and the interchange will be open on the weekdays.

Also in Cobb County, crews will also be making concrete repairs in the two left lanes on I-75 southbound from Chastain Road to State Route 5. Those lanes will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each day.

Drivers near the area of Buford Highway should be aware that many of the surface streets in that area will have lane closures for work related to the I-85/State Route 400 Interchange project.

Additionally, single lane closures will be in place in various locations around I-285, on I-75 and on I-20 for drain cleaning and shoulder sweeping.
