Justin Farmer returns to alma mater 30 years later

FLOYD COUNTY, Ga. — Darlington School in Rome, Georgia, will welcome alumnus Justin Farmer, class of 1987, to speak at Saturday's commencement ceremony on the chapel lawn.

In the event of rain, the commencement will be moved to the Huffman Athletic Center.

Channel 2's Justin Farmer was born and raised in Atlanta.

He competed in golf and track and field while attending the school and went on to get a degree in political science from Boston College.

Farmer spoke at Darlington's Career Day in 2010 and was master of ceremonies for the school's Second Century Campaign Gala Celebration in Atlanta.

In addition to anchoring WSB-TV’s weeknight broadcasts, Farmer often moderates political debates and works on special assignments that have included a one-on-one interview in the White House with President Barack Obama, visiting Cuba with Georgia’s governor and touring the Panama Canal expansion and revealing how it will affect Georgia’s economy.

Before coming home to WSB-TV, where Farmer interned in the 1980’s, his career took him to markets including Salt Lake City, Oklahoma City, Denver and Dallas.

Farmer supports several local organizations, including Junior Achievement, Gigi’s Playhouse for families of T-21 and Chattahoochee River Keeper.

Farmer loves the Falcons, golf, boats and trying to make his children laugh.
