Items in stolen car: 50 lbs. of drug-laced candy, 100g of marijuana, $8K

ATLANTA — Police made a big drug bust after an officer noticed a car with a stolen tag.

The team of Atlanta Police officers that made the bust works out of the substation at Lenox Square. Officers said it all came down to attentiveness, persistence and determination by officers.

Those officers tell Channel 2's Sophia Choi they caught Walker Berryhill around 6 p.m. Tuesday on Howell Mill Road.

“We spotted a vehicle, a black Cadillac,” Lt. Stephen Zygaj said. “It was ran in our tag reader and it came back stolen.”

An officer tried to stop Berryhill, but police said the 31-year-old from Forest Park ran.

“We pursued and caught him in a short foot chase, and he was detained,” Zygaj said.

Police gave Choi pictures of what police found inside the stolen Cadillac from Hapeville.

A search of the car turned up about 50 pounds of edible THC gummy bears in packaging labeled “Mind Benders.” One hundred grams of marijuana, cannabis oil, THC “dap” paste, $8,020 in cash and a pistol stolen out of Gwinnett County was also found, police said.

“You get a 10-year-old child that’s taking those gummies, I mean it could be extremely harmful,” Zygaj said.

Berryhill is now at the Fulton County Jail with pending charges.
