Stolen car slams into Marietta home

MARIETTA, Ga. — Police told a Marietta home owner that the car that slammed into his garage early Tuesday morning was stolen.

Bill Beaudin told Channel 2's Darryn Moore he awoke around 3 a.m. to screeching tires outside his Sawmill Road home. Then, a car came crashing through his garage.

Beaudin said he ran outside and called 911. When Cobb County police arrived, Beaudin said officers told him the car had been reported stolen, but he never got a look at the driver.

"By the time they got in there to check, there was nobody in there," Beaudin said.

The homeowner was not injured, but there was significant damage to his home.

Police believe the car was stolen from a neighbor's home.
