Victims of wrong house raid ask for ‘prayers and patience'

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — For the first time we are hearing from the family whose dog was killed by DeKalb County police officers responding to the wrong house.

Three DeKalb County police officers responded to a 911 call about a suspicious person and a possible burglary around 7:30 p.m. Monday.

One of the police officers were also injured in this incident. Investigators determined he was accidentally shot by another officer.

The GBI is investigating this officer-involved shooting.

The statement released through the attorney reads:

"Here are a few pictures of the McKinley's dog, Yanna.  He was a 10 year old boxer and a special part of the McKinley family, as well as a special friend of the couple's one year old son who was sleeping in the next room when DeKalb officers shot Yanna three times before shooting Mr. McKinley.

All three officers are on paid administrative leave while the GBI investigates this shooting.
