Homeless mothers treated to Mother's Day brunch

ATLANTA — A local charity worked overtime to make Mother's Day extra special for some homeless moms.

The moms got free brunch Sunday and bags filled with treats. The children also received lots of goodies.

The Georgia Mothers of the American Mothers Association sponsored the event in northwest Atlanta.

Women from shelters across metro Atlanta took part in the gathering.

Since 1998, The Georgia Mothers of the American Mothers Association,  has been hosted a Mother's Day Brunch for homeless women and children across Atlanta at The Salvation Army's Red Shield Services Shelter located at 400 Luckie Street in Atlanta.

Ruth Manning, President of the Georgia Mothers Association is one of the founding organizers of the event.

"I have a special place in my heart for these women and each year we shower them with love," Manning said.

Zest Atlanta catered the event with a Southern style breakfast of egg soufflé, large ham biscuits, and more.
