Stockbridge church donates necessity items to Harvey victims

HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — A church community in Stockbridge is helping get necessities to the people of Houston in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.

Church members sent one trailer already, has filled a second and will continue to collect more for a third.

Water, diapers, backpacks for children: The Community Bible Church is asking anyone who wants to donate to come out. Channel 2's Lori Wilson says they'll be there all day accepting donations.

Senior pastor, the Rev. Beau Adams, says when he saw the people of the Houston area hurting, his church knew they needed to do something.

"When you see what these people are going through… and the incredible impact of the flood waters… and there are so many people that are hurting. We figured we needed to be the first to step out and do what we can," Adams said.

Adams said it was a couple of his church members that own a trucking company that came forward and offered trailers to get supplies to Houston that really got the ball rolling.
