13 students taken to hospital after school bus crash

HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — A car crashed into a school bus in Henry County Tuesday morning.

A Henry County Schools public information officer confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that the bus was en route to Eagles Landing Middle School when the crash happened just before 8:30 a.m.

According to the bus supervisor, the crash happened at Hospital Drive and Rock Quarry Road.

How parents found out about the crash and their reaction, on Channel 2 Action News starting at 4 p.m.

It was bus number 08-12, according to the school system.

Police say the car didn't stop as it turned onto Rock Quarry Road and hit the bus.

School officials say there were 35 students on the bus.

Thirteen middle school students were taken to Piedmont Henry Hospital for bumps and minor pain. The driver and passenger in the car were also taken to the hospital. There were no serious injuries.

Channel 2’s Audrey Washington talked to a student who described the crash.

“It was like a big boom and the bus jumped up in the air, it bounced,” Elijah Livingston said.
