1 dead following officer-involved shooting in Henry County

The SWAT team went in to the home around 2:40 a.m. and found the son was still inside. The GBI says they stunned the man with a Taser, and fired their guns as well, killing the man. 

HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — Henry County police said a domestic dispute between a father and a son ended in an officer-involved shooting near Stockbridge, killing a homeowner.

Detectives confirm to Channel 2 Action News that they were called to the incident on Swan Lake Road near Pinewood Terrace around 7 p.m. Friday.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says a father and son had gotten into an argument.

At about 11 p.m., Henry County police were called out to the same home for a domestic violence call saying the son had shot the father, who was not injured, and the father ran away from the house.

Police said the son then barricaded himself inside the home.

Crews called in the Henry County SWAT team around 11:45 p.m. The GBI says officers attempted several times to get in contact with the son inside the home.

No officers were injured in the incident.

Police have not released the names of anyone involved at this point.
