Hawks player arrested on drug charges

BANKS COUNTY, Ga. — An Atlanta Hawks player was arrested in Banks County Thursday on drug possession charges.

Police say Hawks forward Mike Scott was a passenger in an SUV driving north on Interstate 85. Police say the car was following too closely to other cars. When officers attempted to pull the men over, police say the car sped up to 98 mph and continued for two miles until it finally stopped.

Police say Scott's brother Antonn Imhotep Scott, 20, was driving the car.

Officers say the men told them they had marijuana in the car. When police searched the vehicle, they found over an ounce of marijuana along with 10.9 grams of MDMA, also known as Molly.

Both men were arrested. Mike Scott was charged with felony possession of marijuana and possession of schedule I. A judge set his bond at $8,100.

Antonn Scott is charged with fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement officers, following too close, felony possession of marijuana and possession of schedule I. A judge set his bond at $9,300.

The Hawks released a statement Thursday saying, "We are aware of the situation involving Mike Scott this morning. Out of respect for the legal process, we will not have any additional comments at this time.”
