Thieves drive off with luxury cars from dealership

HALL COUNTY, Ga. — Deputies say a pair of thieves broke into a car dealership and stole luxury cars from the lot.

Surveillance video shows two men inside Global Auto Imports in Gainesville Oct. 24.

The owner said the thieves spent more than 30 minutes at the dealership.

At one point, one of the men used the bathroom in the garage.

When they realized they were on camera, the thieves covered it up with a towel.

“They take the plug from the cameras,” said the owner, who did not want to be identified.

The owner said the thieves stole a Porche and a BMW, a total value of $21,000.

He said they used a car to mow down the gate and get away.

“They got the Porche and the BMW and they break the gate with one car, the GMC Acadia,” the owner said.

The owner said he has since improved security, adding alarms and sensors.

“Whatever you did, you messed up your life. That’s it. We’ve got your face on the camera. We’ve got your DNA also,” the owner said.

Hall County investigators told Channel 2's Chris Jose they are looking into whether the crime is connected to similar heists recently in Gwinnett and Coweta counties.
