GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - The Gwinnett County police department is investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting Saturday afternoon in Lawrenceville.
According to authorities at the scene, the officer was called to a home on 3000 block of Smokemist Trace in reports to a burglary in progress. When officers entered the home, they confronted the suspect.
One officer was shot, but suffered non-life threatening injuries. The officer was taken to a hospital. The suspect was shot dead by police.
Police said at the very same time of the burglary, officers were responding to a reported stabbing a home just around the corner. Late Saturday night, they determined the suspect in that case is the same man police killed in the home invasion.
