GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Family members say a Gwinnett County woman is dead after her son shot her and then shot himself.
Gwinnett police responded Saturday afternoon to a home in the 1200 block of Bishops Lane in Lawrenceville.
A family member called police after they went to check on the home and found two bodies with gunshot wounds.
“Nobody deserved to be like that,” Susan Gonzalez said.
Gonzalez said her 57-year-old brother, Mark Knox, moved in with their mother, 82-year-old Donna Dennis, after he attempted suicide 22 years ago.

She said he struggled with addiction and threatened family members.
“I feared him because he threatened me more than anyone threatened me,” Gonzalez said.
Police said it was not the first time they had been called to the home and there is a history of domestic violence.
Neighbors said the nature of the deaths caught them by surprise.
“I wouldn’t have seen it coming. I just thought they fought a lot. That’s it,” one neighbor said.
Gonzalez said it is hard to think she will never see her mother again.
“That’s not how she should have lived her life out,” she said.
Family members said the state Department of Human Services had recently gotten involved due to the number of domestic disturbances.
