DULUTH, Ga. — Police say a 17-year-old tried to bury drugs in the ground before crashing his car into a tree in Gwinnett County.
Duluth police say they tried to pull over Nicholas Torres Quintero for a seatbelt violation Wednesday afternoon, but he sped off.
Police say an officer smelled marijuana in Quintero's car just before he sped off.
Quintero then stopped and, police say, tried to bury marijuana in a yard before getting back into his car and being chased again by officers.
Officers were finally able to catch up to him after he crashed into a tree on Old Coach Drive. The tree fell and took out power to several homes in the area.
Police dogs were used to find the drugs Quintero attempted to hide.
Quintero is in jail facing several criminal charges.
