GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Family and friends of a missing 45-year-old woman are hoping search crews will bring some sort of closure days after a fisherman found part of her remains.
Channel 2’s Tony Thomas followed crews as they searched the Yellow River for the remains of Ceaulovone Milner.
Crews used a cadaver dog and rescue boat to search in the water and along the banks for bones belonging to Milner.
“It’s important that we find her remains in order to determine if this is a homicide, suicide or some other natural event,” Gwinnett police Cpl. Michele Pihera said.
The Gwinnett County Police Department says Milner's skull was found in the river Sunday.
Investigators said there was no evidence of trauma found on the skull. They said they cannot tell when the skull was separated from the rest of her body.
Milner left a friend's home on March 28 and was never seen again.
Police said they found her car near her Indian Trail apartment, and possible signs of a struggle.
“We don’t know if this is a homicide, but we are going to investigate this case as if it was a homicide unless the evidence points us otherwise,” Pihera said.
Milner’s sister says she has trust the police will figure out what happened.
“Based on what I knew, I kind of prepared myself, but then there were moments that I’d would say it's very possible that she's out there somewhere,” said Shalon Jones.
Police say Thursday’s search turned up no clues to help them find answers.
