Busy Gwinnett road reopened following tractor-trailer crash

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A Gwinnett County road has reopened after a tractor-trailer overturned and burst into flames during the afternoon rush hour.

At first, police said the road would be closed for several days, but the Department of Transportation has installed a temporary guardrail and will complete repairs at a later date. Gwinnett County police said extensive repairs will need to be made to Duluth Highway.

Officials said drivers traveling on Duluth Highway between Boggs Road and Northmont Parkway will see detours for the next several days.

On Tuesday night, we watched as officers tried their best to help drivers navigate the closures, but for a Gwinnett County father we spoke with, the daily five-minute commute to pick up his kids from school turned into a half-hour headache.

“It was definitely inconvenient. We did other stuff instead. We went to the library," he said.

Police said the driver freed himself from the wreckage and walked away without any injuries.
