A man was arrested after a gun fired inside a carry-on bag at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, according to security officials.
The incident happened at about 9 a.m. Sunday, the Transportation Security Administration said. Richard Popkin, 43, has been charged with weapon-carrying in an unauthorized location.
TSA officers said they discovered the gun during an X-ray screening at the main security checkpoint. Police were notified of the discovery, and the gun discharged while an officer was handling it, the TSA said.
No one was hurt by the gunfire. The TSA is investigating the incident.
