Temps above freezing now, but refreeze possible again tonight

Temps above freezing this afternoon, but the cold will return again soon.

ATLANTA — Temperatures were above freezing in the metro Atlanta area, northwest Georgia and the mountains for most of the day Friday, Severe Weather Team 2 said.

But temperatures will fall below freezing again in most areas Friday night, presenting the risk for a refreeze Saturday morning, Chief Meteorologist Glenn Burns said.

On Saturday afternoon, temperatures will climb above freezing and stay above freezing through the weekend, topping out in the low 60s on Sunday.

Showers and storms will be widespread Monday night in association with the next cold front.

"Temperatures will stay well above freezing," Walls said. "There's no risk for wintry precipitation."

Air behind that front, however, while cold, will be seasonable, with afternoon highs in the lower 50s through midweek.
